RS-26

1970 Pine Trail Conservation Camp

Description:       In the late 1960's and early 1970's Scouting initiated a nature conservation focus called Project SOAR for "Save Our American Resources". In the spring of 1970, our council planned what was intended to be the first annual camp that focused on conservation topics. The camp was held before the regular summer camp probably in the spring. Unfortunately the camp did not really go over that well and while plans for a camp in 1971 were made, it never happened.

This insignia was given to those scouts who attended the conservation camp in 1970. Only 200 were produced. The design would have been used in 1971, but there is no evidence a patch was produced and none have been seen so it is doubtful the plan moved beyond discussion.

Camp Location: Viola, Arkansas
Designation:       RS-26
Characteristics: Multi-color solid embroidery; Gold rolled edge; Black lettering; 79mm.
